November - 15th Shirley Serviss - As part of the Write Around Alberta Project, Organized by the Writers Guild of Alberta,

Shirley A. Serviss is an Edmonton writer, editor, and writing instructor. She also works part-time as an Artist on the Wards at the University of Alberta Hospital. Her most recent poetry collection, Hitchhiking in the Hospital (Inkling Press, 2005), takes readers along for the ride as she navigates her way through various wards trying to make meaning of the experience of illness. She has published two previous poetry collections: Model Families (Rowan Books, 1992) and Reading Between the Lines (Rowan Books, 2000) and co-edited an anthology of women's writing on depression with Wynne Edwards called Study in Grey (Rowan Books, 1999). Her
articles, poems and essays have appeared in numerous publications and anthologies.
