Mathilda Madeline Côté beloved wife of Robert Felix Côté "Bob" of Medicine Hat, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the age of 94 years, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.  She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband Bob, her nine children, twenty-one grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; Gregory (Joan) of Irvine, and their two children, Celeste and Daniel (Don); David (Barbara) of Sherwood Park, and their three children, Erin and her son Ben; Jonathan (Rachel); Richard (Rachelle) and their children, Lucas and Joelle; Marilyn Côté-Dupuis (Joseph) of Edmonton, and their four children,

Marie-Josée Dupuis-Arsenault (David); Aline Dupuis-Gervais (Daniel) and their children, Félix, Théodore, Eloïse and Lucas; Paul (Lori) and Michèle (Paul); Paul (Cheryl Runge) of Regina, and three children, Ariel Cote(Rick) and their children Oliver and Anderson; Joel Cote and Taryn Runge; Elaine (Harry) of Costa Rica; Richard (Gale) of Cochrane and their four children, David (Lauren) and their son Cael; Greg; Valerie (Aidan) and Noelle (Liam); Marie Neys (Rodney) of Bowen Island, BC, and their three children, Russell (Nicola) and their children, Carys and Roland; Robert and Richard (Toshita) and their children, Rian and Rowen; Robert (Debbie) and their children, Stephanie (Mitch) and Mitchell; Vincent of Port Hope, ON; her sister, Margaret Giesinger and sister-in-law, Priscilla Gyorkos both of Medicine Hat. Mathilda was predeceased by her parents, Stephen and Mary Gyorkos; her three brothers, Stephen, Ignatius and Aloysius; her six sisters, Anne, Christina, Rose, Marie, Elizabeth and Martha.  Mathilda was born on January 29, 1932, in Medicine Hat, to parents Stephen & Mary (Marija Pivar) Gyorkos (Gjerkes).  Originally of Lipa, Slovenia, Stephen immigrated to Canada in 1927, and Mary joined him in 1929, to Medicine Hat where they opened a dry-cleaning and tailor business.  Mathilda was the fourth of eleven children and the second child to be born in Canada.  She excelled at school both in academics and sports.  Mathilda, our Mom, loved reading, had her favorite book of poetry, collected meaningful quotes and held them to heart.  Mom kept high marks in spite of frequently missing school to help her father with correspondence and clothing care in his dry-cleaning business.  She also worked with her mother cleaning the school.  Mom's strong work ethic and giving spirit applied to every stage of her life; taking care of her nine children, managing a busy household, volunteering on committees, helping neighbours, and in her employment serving tables and ironing, or returning to her parents' shop to help out.  Mom never ceased to bring generosity, joy, organizational skills and exactitude to each task.  Mathilda married Bob on July 28, 1951, truly one of the happiest days of her life. Bob built their first home in Medicine Hat and built an addition onto their present home, a beloved sanctuary for their family, for 56 years.  Mom had so very many years of active good health, sharp intellect, excellent memory and wonderful sense of humour.  Even mid 2026, Mom could recite birthdays and anniversaries of all of her family members and her descendants, numbering over 80 loved ones.  Family, guests and even perfect strangers found welcome and shelter in Mom and Dads' home.  Both parents welcomed strangers in need who occasionally stayed the night or briefly boarded.  Their home was a beacon for us children who returned again and again with our spouses and growing families, always receiving a joyful, heartfelt welcome by Mom and Dad.  We were and are always "home" within its walls and within their welcoming arms.  Our Mom, Mathilda, was the voice and image of Love, Welcome, Kindness and Generosity.  She had an ever-present smile, charm, and wit.  When Mom was with you, she was intuitively attentive to your needs, to your stories, and to you.  In her presence, you felt cherished, welcomed and heard.  With her whole heart, Mom was there to listen; to help with her time, she offered love and patience.  We always remember her response to any situation or request as positive: acceptance, support, encouragement, and guidance; never detracting nor discouraging.  It is one of her many, many great gifts to her family, to our cousins, other relatives, neighbours, and to so many people she valued and loved to spend time with.  Our mother was a treasure and we cherish her greatly.  Her presence among us will be missed daily and forever.  However, her grace, her constant love, and her legacy is witnessed in the daily lives of her family, in all of us, and will live on through many generations.  Mathilda's life of faith was very important to her, serving on CWL committees, and helping many families in need.  Faith was her anchor and she held a deep belief that God guided her actions and the principles by which she lived her life: listening attentively, generosity of spirit and of action, great compassion, and her belief in the resurrection held her strong.  We know she is in heaven, welcomed with open arms into God's grace, as we have no doubt he wants her loving self with him in heaven.  In her lifetime she served many organizations including: the Catholic Women's League (CWL), the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) of St Patrick's Church, Teen Aid (for single mothers in need), Pro Life, and also helped organize reunions of the Gyorkos Family.  Baking was just one of the ways she showed her love and service. She baked for many school, church and neighborhood events.  In fact, for many years she was the secret baker of the delicious, much favored cinnamon buns served weekly after Mass at the “Coffee & Chat” at St Patrick's.  When it came to baking, Mom dealt out her love in chocolate chip cookies, brownies, apple pies, and so many other sweets and treats.  Our mother lived a truly remarkable life! A life of being fully invested in the love and generosity she offered to so very many of us. It is truly inspiring to be Mathilda's son or daughter; to witness how beautifully she lived her life, loved and cherished each person who came within the warmth of her arms, the warmth of her smile and her generous spirit. No matter where she is within the stars, Mom, while being greatly missed, will continue to inspire us and will continue to warm our hearts with her life and love.  Those who wish to pay their respects may do so in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.   Family and friends will gather for prayers in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.  The funeral mass will be celebrated in the ST. PATRICK’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Paolo Cervantes celebrant.   Both the prayer service and funeral mass will be live streamed.  Those who wish to attend virtually, please visit Mathilda’s obituary page on our website, for the link.  In lieu of flowers and due to allergies, the family would appreciate if donations were made to either Covenant House (covenanthouse.org/get-involved/ways-to-give/donate-now) or Alberta Cancer Foundation, (Provincial Office, 710 10123 99 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5J 9Z9).  Interment will take place in the HILLSIDE CEMETERY.  To leave a message of condolence you may visit www.pattisonfuneralhome.com

LLOYD HANNA                 1957 - 2026

With heavy hearts, the family of Lloyd Arne Hanna announce his passing on June 18, 2026. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Debbie; two daughters, Delanie (Dustin) Boire and Dara (Brett) Bartman; and two wonderful granddaughters.
Lloyd is survived by six siblings. The youngest of 12 children, he was predeceased by his parents, Evelyn and Harold Hanna.
Lloyd was born on May 19, 1957 in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan where he spent his youth and made big plans for his future. Lloyd and Debbie shared over 40 years of marriage, which began with a Las Vegas elopement. They ultimately settled down in Medicine Hat, Alberta where they planted their roots, spread their wings, and raised their family.
Lloyd and Debbie were the proud owners of Hanna Bros. Construction. This lifelong endeavor allowed Lloyd to balance family and work as he was a devoted Dad to his daughters throughout their childhood and into adulthood. He built many homes around Medicine Hat and was proud of this work, but his biggest achievement in life was his family. Lloyd welcomed his two sons-in-law with open arms and extended that same love to his four grand-dogs. The arrival of his two granddaughters brought a new light and joy into his life.
Lloyd enjoyed camping, golfing, fishing, a good sandwich, and spending summers in Kananaskis, squished into the family trailer, or at the family cabin in Cypress Hills. Over the years, the crew shared many special trips together, with New York City being a highlight they will cherish forever.
Lloyd built a family with love and loved the family he helped build. His loved ones will hold all of the joyous memories close.
A come and go gathering to remember Lloyd will be held on Saturday July 18, 2026, at the Holiday Inn (9 Strachan Bay SE) in Medicine Hat between 10:00am 11:30am.

Myron Eugene Michayluk                January 5, 1953  -  July 1, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Myron Eugene Michayluk announces his peaceful passing at home in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at the age of 73 years.

Myron was born the middle of three children to Eugene and Elsie Michayluk. on January 5, 1953 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He spent his early years in Davidson, Saskatchewan before the family settled in Hafford when he was about five years old.

In 1977 Myron moved to Rosetown, Saskatchewan where he became a dedicated and active member of the community. He devoted his heart and soul to supporting individuals with disabilities through his work at the Wheatland Regional Centre. He also served the Town of Rosetown for many years as an alderman, generously giving his time and energy to help make his community a better place.

A talented musician, Myron played bass guitar with the Night Riders Band and loved sharing music with others. Much of Myron's free time was spent at Lake Diefenbaker with family and friends, where he developed a lifelong love of fishing and watersports. He was also an avid cribbage player who took great pride in teaching his children the art of pegging points. His generous spirit and wonderful sense of humor earned him many lifelong friendships.

Myron married Rita in March of 2006. Throughout the years Myron and Rita lived in several communities across Alberta. Wherever life took them Myron stayed busy cooking, tackling home improvement projects and putting his remarkable construction skills to work. He could build or fix just about anything.

Myron had a passion for cooking and loved bringing people together around the table. He hosted many Ukrainian Christmas dinners for friends in Rosetown and even operated a food stand during Rosetown Jamboree Days called Baba Kay's Perogies. Later when his granddaughter Ariana was old enough, he found great joy in teaching her how to bake. Together they happily made a mess in the kitchen; much to Rita's amusement, as they proudly wore their matching chef hats.

Myron was one of the most generous people anyone could hope to meet. He lived by the words: "You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you." — John Bunyan          He lived that philosophy every day through his kindness, generosity and willingness to help others without expecting anything in return.

Myron is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Rita; children, Amanda (Dale), Leanne, Darryl (Nicole), Michelle (“Steve-Oh”) and JJ; cherished granddaughter, Ariana; sister, Darc (Jim); brother, Tim (Audrey) as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Elsie Michayluk.

Myron's quick wit, straightforward nature, generous heart and unmistakable no-nonsense attitude will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through his compassion, friendship and unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand.

A memorial service will be held in Vermilion, Alberta, on August 6th at 11:00 am at Reflections Funeral Home. A luncheon will follow at 12:00 pm with interment at the Saint Columba Catholic cemetery in Clandonald, Alberta at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Myron's memory by performing an act of kindness for someone who can never repay you.

It is with great sadness that the family of Rodney "Rod" Baxter announces his passing on June 26, 2026, at River Ridge Seniors Village, at the age of 85.
Rod was born on May 14, 1941, in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. During his childhood, his family lived in South Fork before eventually settling in Cadillac, Saskatchewan. As a young man, Rod moved to Swift Current, where he met the love of his life, Carol. They married and built a life together filled with family, hard work, and adventure.
Rod began his career with Weatherford Oilfield Services in Calgary, Alberta. His work took the family on many adventures, including living in Anchorage, Alaska, and Houston, Texas. After taking early retirement, Rod and Carol purchased a KOA campground in Pulaski, Tennessee, where they moved with their family in 1989. In 1991, Rod returned to Weatherford, bringing the family back to Calgary, where he continued his career until retiring in 2006.
After purchasing what they had hoped would be their retirement home in Pincher Creek, Alberta, Rod faced the heartbreaking loss of his beloved wife, Carol, following her courageous battle with cancer. He later made Medicine Hat his home, where he reconnected with lifelong friends and enjoyed being closer to family.
Retirement gave Rod the opportunity to enjoy many of the things he loved most. He had a lifelong passion for classic cars and enjoyed cruising, camping, and spending winters in Yuma, Arizona. He never met a mechanical problem he couldn't figure out and took pride in being able to fix just about anything. Whether he was behind the wheel of a classic car, around a campground, enjoying a good cup of coffee with friends, or soaking up the Arizona sunshine, Rod was happiest spending time with the people he cared about. He made friends wherever life took him and earned the respect of those around him through his quiet confidence, strong work ethic, and willingness to help whenever it was needed.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Candice Baxter and her partner, Stuart; his son, Ryan Baxter and his partner Sheena; his cherished grandchildren, Noah, Addison, and Jackson; his sisters, Marcy Smith and Carol Jeffries; sister-in-law Rose Baxter; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Rod was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carol Baxter.
Rod will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, independence, strong work ethic, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family. He lived life on his own terms, embraced every opportunity that came his way, and left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Rod's memory.
